Special Screening of "My Grandfather Is a Nihonjin"

My Grandfather Is a Nihonjin is an animated feature film produced by Pinguim Content and directed by Célia Catunda. The art direction and visuals were inspired by the work of artist Oscar Oiwa.

The film has been screened at major international animation festivals, including the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival, and the New York International Children’s Film Festival. In Brazil, it was released nationwide in October 2025, opening in more than 250 theaters across 115 cities. The film was released theatrically in Japan in August 2026 and is currently being screened in theaters across the country.

The film follows Noboru, a boy descended from Japanese immigrants who, through conversations with his grandfather, investigates his family’s history and discovers the existence of an uncle he had never heard of.
